Young Philanthropy is a new platform for young professionals to take a leading role in making a positive impact on society.

We see philanthropy as a responsibility to give with imagination and leadership, working in partnership with charities to make a difference.

Our foremost initiative is the Young Philanthropy Syndicate - a new model to enable young professionals to invest in niche projects, with the support of experienced philanthropists.

Syndicate Stakeholders

A Young Philanthropy Syndicate consists of three key stakeholders:

1. A founding member(s) who identifies a particular cause or issue that motivates them.
2. Friends or colleagues, with a shared interest.
3. An experienced philanthropist who mentors the Syndicate.

Syndicate Platform

The platform is designed to enhance the value of the Members’ investment.

Maximise Giving
The philanthropist matches the Syndicate’s investment.
Maximise Impact
The Syndicate funds a particular niche project - investing their money, time and expertise to achieve the charity's objectives.
Maximise Experience
Each Syndicate has a transparent reporting process. Members join the Young Philanthropy Network, providing unique learning and networking events.

Syndicate Investments

Each Syndicate will select a sector from a range of options and invite charities to pitch, depending on their interests and motivation.

Two Syndicates chose to invest in the Health & Wellbeing and Education & Skills sectors.

One Syndicate invested £7,500 in Cancer Research UK’s Young Scientists of Tomorrow Programme.

Another invested £6,500 in installing a new kitchen facility and life-skills programme for one of Centrepoint’s homeless shelters for young people.

Syndicate Network

Our vision is for a network of Young Philanthropy Syndicates, in three possible forms:

Corporate
Bringing together colleagues across their firm, with the support of senior employees.
Independent
Consisting of young professionals across industries, with wide-ranging expertise and a shared interest.
Online
Established via online media, connecting people, charities and philanthropists.
